Godliness: the truly human way!

As much as people don't want to admit it, we are created by God and for God (Colossians 1:16).  We are creayed in the image of God. Have you ever thought about what that means? We are created to live according to how God would live; how Jesus lived.  Oh how fallen we are!  When our first parents ate of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they decided to be their own god, to choose for themselves what is good, what is lovely, what will make them happy.  Of course what Adam and Eve did, was contrary to what God had commanded them and how humans are meant to live.  This blog entry is simply a plea for you (the dear reader) to look around at the massive world we live in and the history of humans.  Simply observe the effects of our subdueing the Earth. Not very pretty is it. War, poverty, suffering, pain, hate, greed, substance abuse, prostitution, sexual immorality, infant mortality, godlessness, lies, witch craft, stife, and I could spend all day listing ugly manifestations of the human heart.  Man's desire to "be like God" (Genesis 3:5) and man's pursuit of happiness has caused a lot of destruction and death.  Human beings are not meant to live like this! Is anyone, who is still of the natural/carnal mind inherited from our father Adam, happy? No! I don't even need to tell you that.
We are meant for so much more! Praise God that Jesus came to redeem us from our sinful nature.  We are meant for God. We are meant to live in relationship with Him and live how He wants us to live.  If we rebel against this, then we choose to go against the our purpose.  Sin is the result of choosing to live according to how we think we ought to live, and it has caused nothing but sadness, suffering, and death.  Living God's way is the way of happiness, joy, purpose, and life.
Jesus said in Luke 14:28, "calculate the cost".  If one we to truly count to cost, then one would surely realize that it is madness to not accept the Lord Jesus.
Here is a list:
Rejecting Jesus
-sadness
-pain
-unrest
-discontentment
-guilt
-and ultimatly hell...an eternity away from the our amazing creator.

Accepting Jesus
-joy
-peace
-satisfaction
-purpose
-love
-and eternal life with the amazing saviour God.

...count the cost!
